Drainage
Benefits of Drainage
Drainage systems are often overlooked even though they are an extremely important part of every landscape design. These consist of piping buried underneath your yard that will divert water away from your yard and into an area where it will not cause any damage. Some drainage systems require the use of a sump pump while others can use gravity to divert the water.
If you notice puddles in your yard, you may need a drainage system intalled.
Prevents Soil Erosion: Soil erosion happens when it rains and soil is displaced from one area of your yard to another. This can cause issues with soil depth which can in turn cause issues in your landscaping if proper drainage is not installed.
Prevents Standing Water: A proper drainage solution will prevent standing water in your yard. Standing water can create a dangerous and slippery surface and drowns your landscape. Not to mention it attracts bugs and mosquitos.
Prevents Water Damage: Improper drainage will not only ruin your landscape but it can also damage your foundation. When the Kansas City storms come rolling through, water flows through your yard much faster. Without proper drainage, the fast moving water can force its way through cracks in your foundation not only causing damages but also creating a new problem of water in your basement.
